cat protection for furniture
How do you get a “wild” kitten to like being held and petted?

She was born in the “wild” and wasn’t brought in until she was about 6 weeks old…she is about 8 or 9 weeks now and she doesn’t like to be held or touched much at all…Does the fact that she was kind of wild have anything to do with this or and can it be changed…she isn’t afraid of us and she plays around but she just squirms and runs when we try to hold or pet her…

And also….any advice on how to stop the clawing and destroying the leather furniture…we make a “hiss” sound and slap the couch to scare her when she does but she keeps doing it…

AAAAnd….she is out around the house running free all day and gets played with but when we put her in a big room at night for her protection and sleep, she meows and meows sooooo loud and long and i’m wondering if thats normal and if its a kitten thing or is she going to do that forever? The other adult cats I’ve had in the past were silent and content and will that come with age or is it a personality thing?

Here are a few items you can use to stop a cat from scratching:
Scratching post
Softpaws
Double sided tape
Water bottle spray
Can of air
Aluminum foil
A bottle/can with something noisy in it
Also you can trim your cat’s nails back once a week
Sprays:
PETCO Bitter Break Training Spray
Nature’s Miracle Best Behavior Pet Training Aid

Also if you have a scratching post & your cat is not using it you can get some catnip & rub it on there or they sell catnip spray. Also it might not be big enough. A scratching post needs to be as long as that cat.
