Why do we really only have two parties, the Democrats for the Jews and the Republicans for the Christians?
Why isn’t there a party for me, like a Centrist party? A party that follows the U.S. constitution literally and in spirit. A party that embraces the separation of church and state. A party that does not try to take away individual liberties. A party that does not stick it to one group in favor of another. A party that believes in a balanced practical approach. A party that is helpful to its citizens and provides a reasonable level of protection and security to them. A party in the middle?
There is a party for you and it appears to be the Independent party. I am a Christian and belong to the Democratic party. Many Jewish friends of mine do too. The same is true with others I know who belong to the Republican party but many of them appear to be wealthy. This is not an all or non; just outward appearances. The problem is; the Independent party came about to appeal to all the things you listed in your question for those who feel they don’t fit into the two established sides. People who joined have made it as political as the two you complain about. A little history before I go. The Republican party was initially founded under a premise that no longer exists and a number of African Americans belonged to it including the first African American president who presided for less than a month, years before Barack Obama, his name escapes me.(You can find it on Google or the African American Registry.) In other words, the premise that both major parties were established under are now a passing fantasy and I choose to vote for the candidate that I think will do the best job, regardless of party and take the hit from my friends and others with an opinion that I should be ‘loyal’ to a party. Side note; politics call all these divisions parties. I’m sure you know what a party is. Go figure. And then, never forget you are an American, you can start your own.
